Burnt Peanuts memories... I remember the only conference room we had in town was in the back of the
police station where I grew up, so we spent a lot of time there for various reasons. While my brothers and I were waiting on our mom to
finish whatever business she was doing, meetings, clubs, etc., we were always bugging her for candy change. She'd give us her purse, we'd
dump it out and start digging.
There was a vending machine that sold a lot of the old time candies, and I always got the Burnt
Peanuts. I would sit and try to eat the coating off first then eat each peanut half to try to pass the time. Those began my obsession with
eating the outer layer of every candy I try now and then each individual piece. They were also a huge live saver as a kid, as they kept my
idle hands busy!!! ~ Diana from Texas
During the 1960's there was an ancient movie theatre in my hometown. In the lobby there was an even
more ancient vending machine for small candies. I always bought Burnt Peanuts. Man that coating on the outside was hard! One day they didn't
stock them anymore and that was the day that one of the small joys of childhood departed. Thank goodness they still had Neccos. ~ Russell

I have a flash back every
time I eat a burnt peanut. Who ever is around me gets to hear my
story no matter how many times they have heard it already. My family
would some times take my brothers and me to a small amusement park.
All the rides were just for kids except one, it was a train that
goes around the whole park.
Every time we would ride it
dad would get a little bag of Burnt Peanuts, he would sit with me
and we would share them. I loved how they would feel in my mouth! I
would move them around feeling the bumps with my tongue until all of
the candy shell had melted away and then I would crunch up the
peanut. I still love them and they will always be apart of a great
childhood memories! ~ Leah from Texas
