My favorite memory involving candy goes back to when I was six years
old. It was a few weeks before Halloween, and I remember my Mom coming
home from the grocery store with the candy that she was going to pass
out on Halloween night--Hershey's Miniatures! I was all excited and
would have torn right into the bags, but my Mom stopped me and said that
I could have whatever was left after I got back from trick-or-treating
on Halloween night.
This was a major disappointment for three reasons. First, I was crazy
about Hershey's Miniatures (especially the Krackel). Second, to a
six-year-old, a few weeks is obviously a LONG time, and third, so many
kids trick-or-treated in my neighborhood that there was almost certain
to be little or nothing left.
About a week later, my older brother was watching me while my Mom was
out. He had me come into his room and told me to crawl under his desk
with him. He told me to reach behind one of the drawers, and I pulled
out a Krackel! Somehow, he'd managed to get a hold of some and had a
small stash hidden in his desk! We lay there eating the candy and
laughing until we'd finished it.
This was very cool for me because since my brother was so much older
than I was, we didn't really do a lot of things together. My Mom never
noticed anything missing, and to this day I still don't know how he did
it.
Before I saw the Hershey's minis on your website, I'd all but forgotten
about them. Seeing them again brings back that wonderful memory. I'll be
sure to look for some to pass out on Halloween this year and share with
my brother, too! ~ Zack from California
