Hot Tamales memories... When I was a little kid, we always went to my
grandma and grandpa's farm for Easter. All of my aunts, uncles, and
cousins gathered there for our annual Easter egg hunt. Every family
brought a different kind of candy. My great grandma always brought hot
tamales every year, they were my favorite candy.
Then all of the adults would go
outside and hide all of the candy around the farm. When they were done
hiding the candy they would give all of us kids a list of candy that
we had to find. I am no longer a kid, not even a teenager, but every
year we have an Easter egg hunt for all the grandchildren, no matter
the age. We always have a blast, and I still always try to find my hot
tamales first! ~ Kendra from South Dakota
Cinnamon flavored candy was the big thing when I was in middle school in the mid 70's, Cinnamon
toothpicks and Hot Tamales were my absolute favorite. I can remember going to the movies and all I would want was a box of Hot Tamales. I
would try (usually unsuccessfully) to suck on them long enough to get the "shell" off, then chew on the "jelly-type" center.
I hadn't had a Hot Tamale since middle school until three years ago. I went on a weekend trip with
two friends and one of them brought Hot Tamales along. I have been hooked again ever since and I always include a box with my friend's
Christmas present. ~ Kathy from Pennsylvania
