Cinnamon Toothpicks memories...

Ah...cinnamon toothpicks. One of my
fondest memories was searching the park for discarded pop bottles so I could
turn them in for the deposit and buy cinnamon toothpicks at the corner
mom-and-pop store. Like a dog with rawhide I would chew the toothpicks until the
wood became mush in my mouth, squeezing out every last 'kick' of the hot
cinnamon. Nothing better, not even chocolate! Thank you for keeping our memories
alive! ~ Sandi from Indiana
In the very early 80's I had my own clientele set up. I would purchase the packs at a little convenience store
for dime a pack and resale for a quarter. In sixth grade I made about $40 in 3 months. Back then, that was a lot of money for a 12 year old.
Unfortunately, the teachers caught on and I was out of business. Even today I still have a pack or two handy in my car. This has been a 24 year love
affair. ~ Paul from Georgia
My favorite memory of cinnamon toothpicks was in the 60's when my sisters and I would go to the
elementary school on Saturdays where they showed old movies or cartoons. (It was a fund raiser for the school.)
We would bring our own bottle of cinnamon oil and toothpicks and suck on the toothpicks through-out the
movie. By the time the movie was over, we would leave and our sides of our mouth and our lips would be blistered for all the toothpicks we
chewed on. ~ Lorelei from Tennessee
