Coconut Neapolitans memories...

Coconut Neapolitan Sundaes

This candy was a special Christmas candy when I was a kid. My mom made a sort of homemade advent calendar for each of us so we count down the days to Christmas. Mine was made of red burlap and looked like a bell pull. There were 25 yarn ribbons on it and each day, beginning on December 1st, we would rush through supper to be able to have our nightly treat - the treat tied to that bell pull.

Now there were always miniature candy canes and Brach's royals in their shiny paper but the best ones on the bell pull was the neapolitan. Its pink, brown and white stripes made it the prettiest one and there were so many ways to eat it, trying all the colors at once, trying to bite it so you only got one color at a time, eating the colors in a different order each time you got one. That was when candy didn't have to do something to be fun, with a little imagination and a few pretty colors, I was happy. ~ Lisa from Minnesota
