Dubble Bubble gum memories...

Dubble Bubble Gum

Dubble Bubble gum, now there's a classic! I can remember the late 50's and early 60's going to my Nanny's house (that's what we called my grandmother) and she would have her apron on in the kitchen and in her apron pocket was a handful of Dubble Bubble gum! She would smile and not say a word and we could just reach in and grab some out of the apron pocket, now you have to know the whole story, we as kids got some sweets but were restricted to an overdose, so thanks to our Nanny we quietly chewed down Dubble Bubble gum in the kitchen while our parents were talking in the living room! :)

Boy, those days are gone but long remembered for sure. And last but not least were the glass soda bottles you found along the road, you got a dime a piece when you returned them to a store, and that would let you buy a day or two worth of Dubble Bubble! Thanks for the memories and letting me share this with you. ~ Allen from Pennsylvania

Dubble Bubble gum has been a special part of my family for years. When I was a little girl my grandfather used to take me to the local store in his big red truck to buy some candy. I always wanted a big bag full of Dubble Bubble gum and he was more than happy to buy it for me. He would always ask if he could have a piece of gum on the way home and we'd chew our Dubble Bubble and talk about what had happened through the week.

I lived in another town and only got to see my grandparents on Saturdays. My grandmother also kept a candy dish in the living room full of Dubble Bubble gum for all of us to share. To this day my own children can't wait to get to my grandparent's house on the weekend to "raid" the candy dish and get their own Dubble Bubble gum.

We also keep a dish full in our home now. I hope that when my children are older they will carry on the tradition. I know no matter how long I live when I see Dubble Bubble gum it will always make me smile to remember the happy times shared with my grandparents and their favorite bubble gum. ~ Rachel from Kentucky
