Look candy bar memories...

OMG, I have not been able to find these for years!! I remember that we would get an allowance of 25 cents per week, and I would buy a look bar because
they were SOOO tasty. The dark chocolate would ooze into the nougat when you at it and it just would make your mouth water. Looks were the same as big
hunks, but they had chocolate on them and big hunks didn't. They had nougat centers with nuts. I was so unhappy when I couldn't find them anymore. ~

Look Bars cost 5 cents each when I was
growing up in Southern California in the '60s. As soon as I got my weekly
allowance on Saturday, I would rush to the corner store and buy at least one
Look Bar. I loved the chewiness and the dark chocolate. Sometimes I'd put it in
the refrigerator to get cold then crack it on the kitchen table to get
bite-sized pieces. Part of the reason I love dark chocolate is because of Look
Bars.
A couple of months ago I mentioned Look bars to a friend of mine. I told her
they were my favorite childhood candy memory and that I missed them. She had
never heard of them. I didn't think anybody made them anymore. End of story? No.
The other day we met for lunch to celebrate my birthday, and there was a bag
filled with Look Bars waiting for me! I just couldn't believe my luck that
they're still making them and that I have a friend who would go to the effort of
getting them for me. I'm rationing them, but they're going quickly and I'll
order some for myself very soon. ~ Karen from North Carolina
I grew up in California and used to
collect pop bottles with my Brother. We would take our bottles to the tiny
corner market to cash them in. Then we would each pick out our favorite candy as
a reward.
My favorite candy bar was LOOK and I
always got one with my pop bottle money. As I got older my taste in candy bars
never changed because LOOK is still my favorite. I moved to Illinois in 1980 and
was very sad to find out LOOK candy bars were not sold here. I visit California
every couple of years and I always stock up on my LOOK candy bars before coming
back to Illinois. I keep them in the freezer to maintain their freshness & take
one out to eat as a treat now and then.
It has been over two years since my last
visit to and I just ate my last LOOK candy bar. I was going to call my Daughter
who lives in California and ask her to send me some, but thought of ordering
them from the internet instead. Sure wish I could get them at my local store
like I did as a kid! At least, I can still get them thanks to online ordering. I
really love the Dark Chocolate covering the chewy nougat & nuts inside. Brings
me back to my childhood! ~ Susie from Illinois
