Licoirce Ropes memories...

Whenever we got candy on a road trip, my brother and sister and I would always see who could get it
to last the longest. This wasn't too fun with small candy, but when we were lucky enough to get Super Ropes, it was a blast. The chewy ropes
would last forever and my parents were happy that they would keep us quiet and focused for a bit.
I remember on a trip to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, we slowly ate the rope for nearly an hour with my
sister eventually winning. The only reason she won was because my brother and I loved the taste too much! ~ Greg from Utah
Licorice Ropes can strengthen the "bond" between a Mom and her daughter!
I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, the only child of two roller-coaster-loving parents. Every summer, our family purchased season passes to the local
theme park, "Worlds Of Fun". On weekends, the three of us spent the day (and most of the night!) riding the biggest, fastest, and scariest coasters in
the park.
Although I was a self-proclaimed tomboy and a "Dad's girl" at heart, my Mom loved to spend time with me and always tried to encourage my uniqueness.
During the week, when Dad was at work, she and I often went to the park together. For us, smaller weekday crowds meant shorter lines for our favorite
rides as well as more time and privacy to engage in our special brand of "girl talk".
One of our traditions on these weekday trips was to stop into one of the park's many candy shops for a treat. I remember watching other kids carrying
Giant Pixie Sticks or huge, colorful lollipops out of these shops while their parents snacked on a more dignified chunk of gourmet fudge, but Mom and
I always bought a pair of extra-long red licorice ropes and nibbled on them together as we wandered through the park.
While we waited in line for rides, we'd chew on our licorice ropes as we talked and joked to each other. (Sometimes, we would make each other laugh so
hard that we'd both nearly choke on our favorite candy!) When we reached the head of the line, we'd coil up our half-eaten ropes and stow them in a
tote bag, leaving our hands free to wave in the air as we shot down the steep hills and through the hairpin curves of the roller coaster! ~ Heather
