Mike and Ikes memories... It started when I was a little girl. Mom came home from work and said she
wanted some candy that was good, juicy and had a lot of flavor. So we ran down to the store and bought some Mike and Ikes. We could have
bought anything but we just happen to pick Mike and Ikes and when we got back to the house I gave momma the candy and momma put them in her
mouth and then she fell in love with them. Thank you for making those Mike and Ikes available. Peace and love. ~ Sparkle
Whenever I see Mike and Ike's
I think of my brother as it's one of his all time favorite candies.
He loves all the different fruit flavors and the fact that they are
bite sized. When we were little, every other Friday night was movie
night. Mom would put us in the car and take us to rent a VHS movie
from the video store.
In the check out line we were
allowed to grab a treat for the movie. He always went for the huge
box of Mike and Ikes. The funny thing is, it still happens! Although
now it's a DVD and a huge box of Mike and Ikes (oh, and Mom isn't
driving him). ~ Shara from Illinois
I remember grade school
recess in the 1950's. That always meant that the assorted boxes of
penny candy would be removed from the supply closet. The teacher
would collect our pennies and distribute the goodies. My favorite
was always the box of Mike and Ike candy.
The box would be partitioned
into four compartments, each holding hundreds of red, green, yellow
and orange Mike and Ikes. For a penny, you would receive one of each
color, so a nickel went a long, long way. ~ Tom from Pennsylvania
When I was in elementary
school in Colorado, my family and I would rarely buy candy because
my father was a doctor and was very health aware. When we were
allowed candy, my brother and I would always choose Mike and Ike's.
We would try to make them last as long as we could, which was
usually just a weekend!
After elementary school was
over, my brother moved away to college and he now lives in New York.
I rarely get to see him but every time I eat a Mike and Ike I think
of all the memories I shared with my brother eating Mike and Ikes. ~
