Peanut Patty memories... I can
hardly believe that you have these peanut patties! These candies have
a special place in my heart. When I was a boy, my Dad used to share
these with me on our long drives from Colorado to New Mexico. We were
on the road a lot, but we had good times and these were always a part
of the trip.
I've only been able to find
them in New Mexico, and on my yearly trip back there I usually buy a
few to bring home (to Washington) with me. Last year I had the good
fortune to have my son along with me for my yearly trip to visit
family. On our way home, I shared McGraw's peanut patties with him. It
was the best trip in a long time. Traditions are meant to be passed
down...hopefully these peanut patties stick around for the next
generation to enjoy them as well! ~ Jim from Washington
I was a six-year-old in
northeast Louisiana when I bought my first piece of candy. It was a peanut patty. There was a small neighborhood store near our house; and
when I attained the rank of a first-grader, I was allowed to walk across the street by myself. The year was 1957. I had walked home from
school, and I was still wearing my school attire: black and white saddle oxfords and a full, starched skirt. I remember standing in the cool
darkness of the store, reaching into my very own plastic wallet, and bringing out a nickel. Not only was this my first candy purchase, it
was also my first purchase in life.
I had forgotten this memory until I ran across a peanut patty in an airport terminal some 45 years later. Eating that peanut patty took me
back to the very instant of my first one. I thank you for making them available to me again! ~ Katherine from New Jersey
I think this must be my favorite candy in the whole world. When I was a kid, we used to buy these
across the street from our house, and I continued to buy them after I grew up. Even when I moved to California, I bought them. Then one day,
I looked for them, and they were no longer distributed by Tom's Peanuts, and I was told they didn't sell them anymore. I was crushed. Later
I decided to make my own, but I had a hard time finding raw peanuts. Now I know where to go to find Peanut Patties again. ~ Edna from
California
We used to go down to Killeen, Texas
every summer to visit my grandparents. My grandmother would always buy peanut
patties for my mom from the Fort Hood Commissary. She would buy as many as they
would sell and we'd drive back up to Wisconsin with them. The whole family loved
them! Our little poodle, Rebel, enjoyed them as much as we did!!
We were afraid
they were no longer made, and were ecstatic to find that oldtimecandy.com
carries them. Thanks for keeping those sweet memories alive!!!!! ~ Angi from
Virginia
