Ribbon Candy
memories... Every Christmas my mother would order the hard ribbon
candy from Sears. Christmas time was the only time we had candy. We
lived on a farm in Virginia and the ribbon candy was a big treat - -
my favorite was the red ribbons and the six (kids) of us would fight
over the red ribbons. Now when I eat the ribbon candy I still pick out
the red ones first and think of the good times back in the late
1940's. Thanks for the memories. ~ Marie from Arizona
I am 60 years old now,
but I remember getting the "sevenees" thin ribbon candy as a
youngster. A special treat around the holidays. When I became
interested in girls, I used to give a box as a gift to special girls
on special dates or occasions! I liked the different flavors, and the
fact it would simply melt in your mouth, unlike most of the thick hard
stuff they call ribbon candy at many candy stores and outlets! ~ Bob

My brother Ray and I grew up
in a beautiful county area of Pa. We didn't have many neighbors that
were in walking distance but there was an elderly woman whom we knew
as Miss Impt. She was a lovely woman who never married and didn't
have children. Her home was beautiful and well maintained. She had
many acres of property and allowed us to build forts, play in the
stream, climb her trees and visit.
When ever we would knock on
her door she would greet us with a big smile and invite us in. After
a little conversation, she would take a box out of the cabinet. My
brother and I knew what was coming next and couldn't wait! In the
box was ribbon candy. So many different colors filled that box. I
can still picture her kitchen as we would be enjoying our pieces of
ribbon candy. I never knew where she purchased this wonderful
shaped, great tasting candy as I never saw it in a store.
Now I know where I can order
some for my children and a box for my brother. Miss Impt has passed
but the awesome memory of her smile, home and box of ribbon candy
has been warming my heart after all these years. I can't wait to
open a box of your ribbon candy, I'm sure I will start to tear up
with wonderful memories of a kind elderly woman who made sure to
have something so unique to share with two neighbor children. ~

Ribbon candy and Christmas at
Aunt Tillie's house bring back memories of the 1960's. Maybe I liked
the ribbon candies because they were bigger than any other piece and
lasted the longest or maybe I liked them just because they were from
Aunt Tillie's candy jar! Or maybe it is the gentle "wave" of the
curls that so fascinated me with this pierce of candy - it was more
like an art form than something to eat. However, after marveling
over it, the sugary taste was a fine memory also! ~ Margaret from
Iowa
