Teabery Gum history

If you make gum-wrapper chains, Teaberry is among the few that still have the logo on the inside wrapper.

Clark's Teaberry Gum ad from the 1940s

Teaberry Gum memories... I remember going to the Doctor, in a large medical building with my mother. As some we would go through the door, I would see the candy display in the coffee shop. I would beg my mother for Teaberry gum and usually she would buy me a pack. I would chew and smell the gum while waiting in the Doctors office waiting room.

Seeing the gum on your website brought back the memory. I can see the medical building and the coffee shop, with the turquoise stools and I can even smell the antiseptic smell of the Doctors Office. I remember the taste of the gum and this little bit of my childhood. ~ Linda from New York

My mother used to keep packs of Teaberry Gum in her purse in the early 1970's. I used to beg her for a piece and would always dig at the bottom of her purse to grab the last piece before my brothers scarfed them down. I didn't care that the gum was usually entwined with either a snotty Kleenex or tobacco from her non-filtered Camel cigarettes, I had to have a piece of Teaberry gum!

My mother is gone now and I can honestly say that Teaberry Gum is something that will always make me smile and remind me of her and of my childhood in Hamilton, Ohio. ~ Lily from Illinois

My fondest memory of Teaberry Gum was watching TV one day and viewing a funny commercial with this street cop and others doing a very funny dance to a very catchy jingle. Several days later I heard the same song on my AM transistor radio and the DJ announced that it was the "Mexican Shuffle" by Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass. In the commercial, it was dubbed the "Teaberry Shuffle" and afterwards, I was hooked on Teaberry Gum AND Herb Alpert. The memory is as fresh today as it was 40 years ago. ~ Tony from Tennessee

When I was a young boy, we lived in front of a bog, and took long walks around it as a family. On our walks we would stop to pick berries, blueberries, blackberries, and these small red berries that Mom called 'checkerberries.' These 'checkerberries' had a very unique taste, or so I thought. I was given a stick of Teaberry gum by a friend, and immediately recognized the flavor - checkerberries. Now every time I see Teaberry gum, I have to grab a pack. It brings me back to those childhood walks, and the flavor of checkerberries. ~ Mikki from Mass.
